about

Texas-based reggae artist Sgt. Remo releases his album Oh Jah on vinyl. This is the artist’s fourth studio album. The album was produced by Austin, TX producer McPullish and released on the San Antonio’s Jah Yutes Entertainment label. The album’s physical distribution will be exclusively on vinyl. It will also be available in all digital formats like iTunes, Spotify, etc. In a recent interview Sgt. Remo describes this record as “some of the best production and overall quality album I have released.”

The album Oh Jah can be best described as a mix of heavy roots/steppers/dub reggae. Side A offers the title track Oh Jah, a hypnotic, heavy roots reggae song reminiscent of a Midnite, Yabby You, or early Lee Scratch Perry production. McPullish also produced a melodica and dub versions which will please collectors of 70’s twelve-inch reggae/dub albums. Side B is the steppers Can’t Color Me Badd which rides the heavy roots, four-to-the-floor style of reggae popularized by UK dub sound systems inspired by Jah Shaka and other pioneers of the subgenre. The album is 45 rpm. Each side is limited to about eleven minutes of strictly audiophile quality reggae music.
